POSITION SUMMARY: 

 

The Digital Learning Center (DLC) Paraprofessional  oversees the day-to-day operations of the Digital Learning Center, a multi-use space designed to support student academic success, digital learning, alternative learning environments, and teacher needs. This role works directly with students requiring digital learning access, provides supervision and academic support for students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS), assists students using the space during and after school, and collaborates with staff to maintain an effective, structured learning environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

Direct Student & Academic Support

• Provide direct support to students working on digital coursework, credit recovery, online electives, and hybrid learning programs.
• Monitor student progress, engagement, and focus while utilizing DLC technology and learning platforms.
• Assist students with basic technology troubleshooting (e.g., login issues, navigating learning management systems like Google Classroom/Canvas, connectivity).
• Help students develop effective study habits, time-management skills, and academic focus.

In-School Suspension (ISS) Supervision & Support

• Supervise students assigned to In-School Suspension within the DLC or designated sub-space.
• Liaison with classroom teachers to ensure ISS students receive, understand, and complete their assigned coursework.
• Maintain a structured, quiet, respectful, and productive environment that supports behavioral reflection and academic completion.
• Log attendance, behavior, and work completion for reporting to administration and student support teams.

Room Management & Environment

• Ensure the DLC remains a welcoming, organized, and functional resource space for both students and staff.
• Supervise drop-in students utilizing the room for quiet study, independent projects, makeup testing, or scheduled class visits.
• Maintain equipment inventory and monitor the appropriate use of school technology, reporting any damaged or malfunctioning hardware to IT.
• Create and enforce clear room expectations, routines, and safety procedures.

After-School Program & Extended Coverage

• Coordinate and supervise after-school DLC hours, providing a safe and productive environment for students requiring extra study time or digital access.
• Assist students with homework completion, project work, and access to online resources past the regular instructional day.

Teacher & Staff Collaboration

• Partner with classroom teachers to schedule space usage, coordinate student assignment drop-offs/pick-ups, and track academic needs.
• Collaborate with special education teachers, counselors, and administrators to support students with individualized learning plans (IEPs/504s) or behavior plans using the space.
• Maintain basic records of room usage, student attendance, and resource allocation.

Other Duties

• Perform other related duties as assigned by building administration to support school-wide operations and student success.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate Degree, 60+ college credits, or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment preferred.
• Experience working with adolescents in an educational, tutoring, or supervisory setting preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

• Technology Skills: Proficiency with educational software, Learning Management Systems (LMS), Google Workspace/Microsoft Office, and basic computer/chromebook troubleshooting.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, patience, conflict resolution, and classroom/behavioral management skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

• This is a 10 month position.
• This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Bay Path Teachers Association (Paraprofessionals) and the SWCRVSDC.

SALARY:  Appropriate step on BPTA (Paraprofessionals) pay schedule pursuant to the BPTA (Paraprofessionals) CBA.  Hourly rate ranges from $20.52 - $27.08 per hour.
